Founded in Padang, Sumatra in 2024, Hutan Harimau was legitimated based on the Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Act number: AHU-0013482.AH.01.04.Tahun 2024.
Hutan is the Indonesian word for Forest and Harimau is the Indonesian word for Tiger. Hutan Harimau is the only organization focused exclusively on the conservation of wild Sumatran tigers and their rainforest habitats.
Hutan Harimau’s mission is to function as the leading Sumatran tiger-focused organization. We work in partnership with government agencies, local communities, universities, and non-governmental organizations to better research and conserve Sumatran tigers.
Hutan Harimau’s vision is to secure the long-term recovery and survival of Sumatran tigers across Sumatra while fostering sustainable coexistence between people and tigers.
Hutan Harimay’s mission is to protect Sumatran tigers and their habitats through science- and technology-based conservation, strong community partnerships, and effective habitat protection.
